No surprises in the latest Ipsos Issues Monitor

The latest Ipsos report is out. It says... pretty much what the last one did.

Every few months, Ipsos releases its Issues Monitor, a nationwide survey that has tracked the issues New Zealanders care most about since 2018.

The latest report is out and not much has changed.

The cost of living remains New Zealand's biggest concern, with healthcare close behind in second place. Being the public healthcare tragics we are, we couldn't resist digging back through the Ipsos archives to see whether this was something new.

It wasn't.

Healthcare has been sitting near the top of New Zealanders' concerns for years. While the rankings have shifted slightly over time, one thing has remained remarkably consistent. People continue to worry about whether they'll be able to get the healthcare they need, when they need it.

It's a long-running concern shared by people across the country. When the same issue keeps showing up, survey after survey, it suggests the problem hasn't been solved.

And until the results change, neither will our asks. We continue to call on the Government to:

Fund public health properly – so everyone gets care when they need it.

Honour Te Tiriti – ensuring Māori lead on equity in the health system.

Keep healthcare public – so care stays for people, not profit.
