Nothing to see here, says Health NZ
Well, that's a relief.
After hearing at our Nelson meeting last week that the hospital doesn't have enough beds, doctors or nurses, that GPs aren't referring some patients because they know they'll be turned down, and that people have to be increasingly sick to qualify for treatment, Health NZ has reassured everyone that anyone who needs hospital care can get it.
Phew. Problem solved.
Health NZ also says it's recruiting staff, making progress on waiting times and using private providers to help meet demand.
Cooooool.
But apparently everyone who needs care gets it.
