The Timaru Herald: Roady hears from Timaru’s health frontline
The Save Our Public Healthcare Roady rolled into Timaru on Tuesday, where local health workers spoke frankly about increasing pressure on the region’s health system and what they’re seeing on the frontline.
Dr David Galler said that behind all the talk about funding, services and systems, healthcare ultimately comes back to people.
“It’s people who require health services, and it’s actually people who provide health services, and it’s both sides of those equations that are losing out.”
The Timaru stop is one of 25 meetings as David and Malcolm travel from Bluff to Cape Reinga, hearing directly from communities about the state of public healthcare.
